Celebrating International Women’s day.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year, WWCC, organized a series of raffles for the LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) daytime and evening women students, making the day even more special and memorable.

It was certainly a day of joy and gratitude. The raffles were a highlight of the IWD celebrations, bringing smiles and excitement to the faces of many students. The prizes were donated to Working Women Community Centre by several generous donors. The winners were overjoyed and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the fabulous prizes they received.

We were pleased to have our Executive Director, Vanda Henriques, join us to do the draw for the morning classes.

One of the daytime students, shared her feelings: "I never expected to win, but this prize has made my day". It’s wonderful to see how the community comes together to support and celebrate women.

Similarly, an evening student, expressed her delight: "Winning this prize means so much to me. It’s not just about the gift, but the recognition and support from the community. I feel truly valued and appreciated."

The IWD raffles at LINC were a resounding success, bringing joy and a sense of community to the students. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us continue to support and uplift women, recognizing their contributions and advocating for a more equitable world.

Happy International Women's Day to all!
